BALI — An Australian woman, identified as Cronin Brianna Lani, 30, was found dead after falling from a cliff at Kelingking Beach, Bunga Mekar Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung Regency, Bali, on Saturday morning, September 12, 2026.
According to Cakra Negara, Coordinator of the Nusa Penida Search and Rescue Unit, the victim is believed to have fallen from a cliff approximately 80 meters high at around 9:00 a.m.
“Based on information from the scene, the victim was believed to have fallen at around 9:00 a.m. She was reportedly attempting to find her own route toward the edge of the cliff before slipping and falling into the ravine,” Cakra said.
The incident was first reported by Pageh, a local resident of Kelingking Village, at approximately 9:50 a.m. After receiving instructions from their superiors, the rescue team immediately headed to the location and coordinated with other SAR personnel to carry out the evacuation.
Initially, the rescue operation was planned to be conducted from the sea. However, the plan had to be canceled due to high tidal waves along the shoreline.
The evacuation was subsequently carried out manually by carrying the victim up the stairs at Kelingking Beach.
“When the victim was found, she had suffered several fractures to parts of her body. We then secured her on a stretcher to facilitate the evacuation process,” Cakra explained.
The steep and narrow access route made the evacuation particularly challenging for the rescue team. After approximately 1.5 hours of evacuation, the victim was finally brought up from the cliff area.
The victim was then transported by ambulance to Griya Penida Clinic for further handling.
The search and rescue operation involved personnel from the Indonesian Navy Nusa Penida Post, Nusa Penida Police, Balawista Kelingking Beach, Babinsa of Bunga Mekar Village, Griya Penida Clinic, and local residents.
