BALI — The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office has taken action against four foreign nationals suspected of violating Indonesia’s immigration regulations during a joint raid in Canggu, Badung, on Thursday night, September 24, 2026.
The operation was part of the Military Police’s Operasi Gaktib under the “Waspada Wira Tombak” operation, which targeted a number of nightlife venues in Bali. Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office Muhamad Novyandri said three of the four foreign nationals were found working as disc jockeys (DJs) at a nightclub in the Canggu area.
The three foreign nationals allegedly misused their immigration documents. They were identified as MSI, a national of Egypt, who holds a Visa on Arrival (VOA); EZM, a Russian national who also holds a VOA; and AA, a Russian national holding an Investor Limited Stay Permit (ITAS).
According to immigration authorities, the permits held by the three foreigners did not correspond with the activities they were carrying out in Bali.
Nigerian Woman Found to Have Overstayed for 402 Days The joint team also detained a Nigerian woman identified by the initials PGA. An examination of her immigration documents found that PGA had overstayed her permitted period of stay in Indonesia by 402 days.
All four foreign nationals have been taken to the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office for further examination. Immigration authorities will determine the appropriate administrative immigration measures in accordance with Indonesian law.
The operation in Canggu involved several government and law enforcement agencies, including the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the Military Police Detachment (Denpom), the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and the Denpasar Police Department.
Immigration Tightens Supervision of Foreign Nationals in Bali Novyandri said the joint operation reflects the government's continued efforts to strengthen immigration supervision in Bali, particularly amid the island's busy tourism activity.
He emphasized that immigration supervision is not solely focused on taking action against violations, but also on ensuring that residence permits issued by the Indonesian government are used according to their intended purposes.
He added that the policy is in line with the direction of Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko, who has emphasized the role of immigration authorities in protecting and serving the public while delivering tangible benefits to communities.
The Ngurah Rai Immigration Office said immigration enforcement would continue as part of efforts to maintain a safe, orderly, and conducive tourism environment in Bali.
